KBS’s ‘Immortal Song 2‘ broadcasted its 14th episode on September 3rd!

The rundown of ‘Immortal Song 2′ is that each contestant sings unique covers, just like on ‘I Am a Singer‘; however, there are no eliminations to pressure them. The six castmates will instead battle for pride, as the first place winner will be judged by a studio audience. Not only that, but they’ll also receive priceless pointers and tips from the original artists of the songs they cover.

This week’s mission was different from the norm in that the contestants each chose a dance or ballad track that they had the most confidence in.

Kwon Jae Young PD said, “We did not decide on a specific concept. We asked the singers what song they would like to sing, and each of the songs they chose were all very great.”

VIBE’s Yoon Min Soo recently impressed netizens with his fighting spirit by refusing to be brought down by his vocal cord nodule.

His story was shared on an online community board under the title “Yoon Min Soo’s Vocal Cord Nodule“, which told of how Yoon Min Soo refused to withdraw from his schedules because of his nodule.

Yoon Min Soo, who is gaining much popularity through MBC’s “I Am A Singer“, was rushed to the emergency room for fatigue after recording “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” last year. At the time, the doctor encouraged Yoon Min Soo to rest due to his symptoms of dehydration and the presence of a vocal chord nodule.

The star was determined to meet his schedules and avoid disappointing his fans, so without telling his manager, he appeared on SBS’s “Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate“. Unfortunately, the strain proved to be too much in the end, as he fainted from dehydration and was rushed to the hospital to receive treatment.

After his story was revealed, netizens praised the star for his dedication. “He is a true professional“, “Please take care of your throat“, “It’s good to see him always trying his best“, “I’ll look forward to seeing you“, and “I applaud your professional mentality“, they said.

In related news, Yoon Min Soo surpassed his seniors on “I Am a Singer” and placed 2nd during the 2nd round. He is quickly becoming a sensation thanks to his impeccable manners and modest appearance on the show.

Only yesterday, we reported that MBC’s ‘Birth of a Great Star‘ Season 1 winner, Baek Chung Gang, had dismissed rumors that he would be leaving his mentor Kim Tae Won and his agency, Boohwal Entertainment. But on the same day, Boohwal Entertainment had made an official announcement that Baek Chung Gang would be departing from their agency, causing confusion amongst netizens.

So you can imagine the shock netizens felt upon hearing the news that Baek Chung Gang has since then officially departed from his agency, when he had personally denied the rumors through his me2day the day before.

On September 2nd, Baek Chung Gang and Kim Tae Won both attended a ceremony held in Kyungki-Do, and shared their feelings about the issue.

Kim Tae Won stated, “I am a singer, not a businessman. My student has a chance to grow and develop in a bigger world and under better conditions, so as a teacher I believe that I should be happy for him and let him go.”

Baek Chung Gang also commented, “Although I am leaving my first agency, Kim Tae Won will always be my mentor and teacher.”

So what were the reasons behind Baek Chung Gang deciding to leave Kim Tae Won and Boohwal Entertainment?

Well, first and foremost, Baek Chung Gang wished to expand his career into China — something that Boohwal Entertainment could not easily help him prepare for, since the agency mainly focuses on managing the Boohwal band. Consequently, Baek Chung Gang concluded that it was better for him to join an agency with established ties in the Chinese market.

The second reason is that Baek Chung Gang’s chances of succeeding in the Chinese market are much higher than his chances of making it big in Korea. Korea is currently saturated with talented singers all vying to make it to the top, and so Baek Chung Gang felt it would be difficult for him to break into this market and display his own unique talents.

In China, however, the situation is different. To Korean immigrants living in China, Baek Chung Gang is a symbol of the Korean dream. The singer would have a much higher chance in China of leading a long and successful singing career.

After winning ‘Birth of a Great Star’, Baek Chung Gang currently holds the status of a star in China and is receiving much love from his Chinese fans, as proven by the hundreds of fans that gathered to greet him at his last fan signing event in Yanbian, China.

For the sake of his future singing career, Baek Chung Gang felt he needed to promote in countries outside of Korea, and therefore, leaving Kim Tae Won could be the right step towards preparing his future.

However, the singer disappointed many of his fans when he first denied the rumors, then acknowledged them as being true merely a day later. Baek Chung Gang is a unique figure who could help form a bridge between the cultures of Korea and Yanbian of China, so there is also a need for him to maintain a positive image within Korea.

Singer Jung Yeop of R&B group Brown Eyed Soul will be holding his 4th solo concert in October. The concert has been called ‘K.I.S.S.‘, since Jung Yeop plans on melting the audience with his sweet vocals, just as a kiss would.

Organizers are expecting ‘K.I.S.S.’ to draw in a larger crowd than last year’s concert, as it will be his first solo show after he appeared on the wildly successful program, ‘I Am a Singer‘.

For the line-up, Jung Yeop plans to include songs from his new album, as well as song he sung for ‘I Am a Singer’, drama OSTs, and covers of his K-Pop favorites.

‘K.I.S.S.’ will run from October 14th to the 16th at Seoul Olympic Hall, from the 22nd to the 23rd in Busan at KBS Hall, and from the 29th to the 30th in Daegu at the ExCo Auditorium.

Singer Rain has revealed a photo after he finished up his concert in Daegu.

On August 28th, at midnight, the singer tweeted “Thank you to everyone who came to my concert today. I have other work I have to tend to so I’m taking the KTX. Please look forward to my next concert in Jeju“.

In the photo, Rain is seen wearing a denim jacket, a bookbag, and headphones. His sleek chin and sharp nose especially were complimented by his fans.

Singer BoA recently expressed her gratitude for her fans’ undying devotion.

On August 26th, the singer tweeted “I successfully finished performing at the 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championships and am leaving~ Now off to Japan for a concert — go-go-sing! I saw yellow ‘Jumping BoA‘ balloons for the first time in a long time and felt touched. I love you”

BoA performed at the opening ceremony for the event along with many other K-Pop stars, where she was greeting by the enthusiastic cheers of her fanclub, ”Jumping BoA”. The fans also cheerfully waved balloons in BoA’s official fanclub color, yellow.

Singer Lee Hyori had a walk down memory lane recently after she played around with some makeup.

Hyori tweeted, “My friend and makeup goddess, Hong Sung Hee. Remembering how we both played with lipstick at our moms’ makeup tables. Fun and fluttering feelings.”

It’s being reported that SISTAR’s Hyorin has pulled out of KBS 2TV’s ‘Immortal Song 2‘ today due to scheduling conflicts. Her last recording for the competitive program will be on August 29th.

Hyorin has received much praise for her singing prowess and her stage charisma during her involvement with ‘Immortal Song 2′. Her husky, powerful voice has earned her the title of “Korea’s Beyonce“.

A representative from MBC’s popular competitive singing program, ‘I Am a Singer‘, stated, “She’s the idol singer I most want on the show. As someone who works for the television industry, you can’t help but want this gem.” Because ‘I Am a Singer’ is generally targeted towards veteran singers, it’s all the more impressive that Hyorin was considered.

SISTAR recently ranked 1st on Billboard’s “K-pop Hot 100 Chart.”
